Golden Panthers miss opportunity vs. Rutgers

Despite a strong defenisve performance, FIU dropped their season opener 19-14 to Rutgers on Sept. 11 in front of a record crowd at FIU Stadium.

FIU was plagued by penalties as the team picked up 14 setbacks for 126 yards.

The Golden Panthers were led by starting quarterback Wesley Carroll, who was 12-of-22 for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

T.Y Hilton led FIU in receiving with 49 yards.
