Provost and Executive Vice President Douglas Wartzok announced the new Dean of Libraries in a memorandum to the University on Monday, April 1.

Anne Prestamo has experience serving as a reference librarian, head of Digital Library Services and currently as the associate dean for Collection and Technology Services.

Wartzok wrote in his memo, “Dr. Prestamo will lead the University Libraries at a time of revolution in information creation, storage and retrieval.”

Prestamo served at the Oklahoma State University Libraries since 1996.

At OSU, Pretamo led initiatives involving the discovery and delivery of information resources, and development of digital collection.

Wartzok wrote that the Libraries will continue to focus on helping students complete their university education successfully.

“Dr. Prestamo and all of the library faculty and staff will continue to cultivate the libraries as an educational resource that is Worlds Ahead,” Wartzok wrote.

Wartzok thanked Dean Kenneth Furton for his work in the search and screening process, as well as Interim Dean of University Libraries Thomas Breslin.

Prestamo will begin the position on July 29.
