Ryan Mignagaray is FIU’s newest member of Biscayne Bay’s Student Government Council. Mignagaray is the new marketing coordinator. He is currently a senior at FIU majoring in advertising.

“I wanted to apply for SGA because I wanted to help make changes around campus that will be positive changes for future students,” Mignagaray said in an interview with Student Media.

Mignagaray said he participated in the Miami Creative Boot Camp in May 2017. The purpose of this boot camp, according to Mignagaray, was to create ad campaigns. His group won the competition by creating an ad campaign for Verizon Wireless. Mignagaray was the only one from FIU on the winning team. The competition, he said, is what gave him the experience needed to pursue a marketing position at SGC-BBC.

As marketing coordinator, Mignagaray works closely with the public relations manager, the social media coordinator, and the director of events. His job is to promote and market the various events that SGC-BBC sponsors.

“We want students to come in and enjoy our events and learn more about what we’re doing,” Mignagaray said.

Mignagaray said that many events are hosted with faculty where the future of FIU is discussed, so it is important that students take advantage of these events so they can be informed about the University.

“In the future, I want to work for the government so I can make positive changes for the community and for the whole country,” he said.
