Thirty-three video-production students at FIU’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication teamed up to create South Florida’s Rising Seas: Impact.

The film is the product of a class led by Assistant Professor Kate MacMillin and is the work of two semesters worth of students venturing out into the Everglades, Miami Beach, the Keys and Fort Lauderdale to interview engineers, environmentalists, real estate professionals and civic leaders to spread awareness of the dangers of sea level rise and how it will affect South Florida.

FIU’s partnership with WPBT2 gives students a platform to voice their concerns on issues such as sea level rise, while earning academic credit and building up their professional portfolio as well.

South Florida’s Rising Seas: Impacts will premiere on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. on WPBT2 and again on Saturday, June 28 at 2:30 p.m.
