I am a part of OS (One Struggle FIU), they’re an anti-capitalist/anti-imperialist organization and they mainly fight for the rights of the working class around the world. I found out about this group about a few weeks ago, I saw them handing out flyers at a protest for the new Trump policy against the DACA recipients. I think this organization is important because its more about being class conscious to the forefront of the American discussion. Their main goal is to bring awareness to society that a lot of their problems are due to the nature of the system under which we operate.

I am not involved in any particular organization but I have definitely participated as an activist. The most recent event I attended was the Blackout event hosted by the BSU (Black Student Union) at the BBC campus. Students wearing all black gathered to take a group photo. It is to speak out about the importance of Black Lives Matter, not just to represent something for the black community, but communities that deal with inequality as a whole.

I work for the UNICEF club on campus. I am a member of the executive board in which my job entitles to reach out to the community; whether it is donating or raising funds. We take on different issues each month. Since high school, I have been contributing to UNICEF. I became involved to help raise money for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF where instead of candy you trick-or-treat for donations. Coming to FIU I decided I wanted to continue my involvement with the organization. I have always loved doing a lot of community service.

Currently, I am the Senator for the College of Engineering and Computing. Within the Senate we have different committees and I am in the Student Advocacy Committee. In the past fall semester, the majority of my involvement has been through this committee. Before that, however, in previous years I have been continuously involved through different organizations on campus such as Students for Justice in Palestine.
