Laverne Cox removed her prison uniform and strutted the halls of Panther Territory this past Tuesday, April 11. Cox came to FIU for the Lecture Series hosted by FIU’s Student Government Association at Biscayne Bay Campus called, “Ain’t I a Woman: My Journey Through Womanhood.”
“Except for the Eboard, nobody else knew about this,” said Erin Swink, a freshman nursing major and SPC member. “It was really exciting, even for us.”

With the heat of summer events coming to an end, it was only logical to cool everyone down with a pool party.
While we expect summertime to constantly be filled with beach trips, sunny days and perfect tans, that is not always the case. However, there is one thing we can count on during the summer, and that’s television. Summertime brings us some of the best shows, both new and returning, allowing us to enjoy our summer inside the house, as much as we do outside.
Helping people in need has been on the University’s radar lately. From designing shoes for children in Haiti to designing sites for children in Nicaragua, the University continues to emphasize the importance of giving back to the less fortunate.
