Texting while driving law will be enforced starting in October

On Oct. 1, Florida’s ban on typing in a wireless device while driving, also known as Senate Bill 52, will go into effect. According to the Florida Senate website, the first violation of the law is punishable as a nonmoving violation, with a $30 fine, plus additional county court costs.




Annual spring game to showcase new talent

With the end of the semester fast approaching, so is the end of spring practices. Players are scrambling to try and wrap up their semesters with grades and the final week of practice. But with that comes the last chance before summer workouts to prove to head coach Mario Cristobal and the rest of his staff that they deserve playing time next year.


Panthers reach school-record eight wins in win over MTSU

After beating Middle Tennessee for the first time away on the road, FIU (8-4, 5-3 SBC) finishes the season with the best record in school history. Now the waiting game begins. It is still uncertain whether a second consecutive bowl berth comes with it. Mario Cristobal will have to wait a full week until Dec. 4 to see if the Panthers are bowl bound.


Panthers travel to MTSU for critical season finale

Last year, FIU was one win away from clinching the Sun Belt championship outright. Instead, Middle Tennessee came to Miami and spoiled the night with a 28-27 victory, making the Panthers settle for a tie with Troy and earning the Blue Raiders a bowl game.
