FIU WRC Will Host First “Campus Rec Combine”

FIU WRC is looking to put students' athletic abilities to the test in the upcoming Campus Rec Combine

Written by Eric Calero/Asst. Sports Director

For the first time ever, the Wellness and Recreation Center at FIU will host “Campus Rec Combine” on Wednesday, Feb 27.

It will be open to FIU students interested in participating in a test of their athletic and mental abilities.

During the competition, the competitors will be given the chance to compete head-to-head in events that will test agility, endurance and strength.

Among these events will be a 40-yard dash, a broad jump, a three cone drill, and kicking and passing skills.

There are two separate competitions; one for men’s and one for women’s. The competition for both divisions will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

At the end of the night, winners from each side will be announced and will receive a prize for being the ‘champion’ of the Campus Rec Combine.

Students interested in participating in the event can register until tomorrow, February 26, at 5 p.m. at go.FIU.edu/FIUcombine

For those who are not participating in the tournament, or are interested, but were not able to register, entry to watch the competitors in action is free.

The competition will be held at the WRC South Turf Fields at 6 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on as there will not be a formal seating arrangement.
