Students should stop using straws to save the fish

One group of fish are getting caught in another net and another group of fish are dying because of the garbage and toxicity from chemicals that has invaded their world.

Both of these things are simultaneously happening at this second.

Those unfortunate fishes in the sea have had their last straw.

They have had to deal with our garbage for way too long. After all the years of torture the sea creatures had to go through, we are starting to clean up our act now. We are still waiting for the whole world to be in unity with this act.

Sea creatures (all creatures) thrive in places without toxicity.

Humans may not ingest plastic or other inedible things in the garbage can, but when we inhale we can breathe in chemicals such as cadmium if we pass by severely polluted area which causes death for humans.

About 100,000 sea creatures have lost lives because of straws (only straws).

Many other sea creatures have died from toxins and other types of garbage.

Fish eat under water and they are penetrated with anything that is thrown at them.

It is something they cannot control. It is something we can control.

As we turn to more ethical acts towards the environment, we should feel much remorse towards the damage that has been done.

We need to focus on how that damage could be lessened one day. Some people leave a green footprint and some others don’t.

It will be less of a problem if many (I repeat, many) more people start to practice ethical actions towards the environment.

The Californians and a few other places have used their last straw.

When will the Miamians use their very last one?

How about we (students and faculty at Florida International University) set an example for Miami?

Many people from all other world take a closer look at anything that a Ph.D. or university says, so there is a high chance of FIU setting a positive impact.

We may not be able to persuade the whole state, but since we are a large body of people we can make a positive change in FIU’s city.

FIU holds a large array of restaurants and those restaurants hold… straws.

Those straws are an abomination for the world.

If FIU stopped giving out plastic straws, we would be able to set forth a wave of positivity.

Metal straws are in, but if it is not your thing it is fine.

What is wrong with clean cups or bringing your own Tervis, right?

The restaurants in FIU can give away biodegradable straws instead too.

The simple alterations can help reduce litter in the world; therefore, saving more creatures.

As more students decline use of straws in FIU, the statistics of that specific request will grow.

There is not much of a need to go out with eye black with posters addressing this environmental issue, but it could be done if it is something the students at FIU would want to do.

It is all in your hands. ‘

You are more capable than you think.
