Women’s Basketball Drops Home Game Against Bethune-Cookman

Christopher Rodriguez/Staff Writer

FIU women’s basketball suffers an intense loss against Bethune-Cookman in Panther territory.

FIU had a strong start coming into the game, scoring 13 points in the first quarter. Though, BCU was mostly dominant and had the upper hand against the Panthers.

BCU came back in the second quarter, shooting two for four behind the arc. BCU’s forward,  Ciara Thompson, scored eight points in the quarter, tying up the score in the first four minutes of the quarter.

FIU was not able to grab any offensive rebounds in the first half and turned over the ball multiple times for BCU to gain more possessions.

The Panthers caught up in the fourth quarter and played more aggressive and intense throughout the rest of the game. The last minutes of the game was a back and forth between the Wildcats and the Panthers. BCU would eventually win the game thanks to their free-throw shooting.

FIU suffered under the pressure of the last minutes of the game and made defensive mistakes that could have given them the chance to win the game.

FIU failed to grab much-needed rebounds in the last minutes of the game that were picked up by BCU and would put it back in their basket.

FIU women’s basketball will begin the Thanksgiving Classic against Oakland on November 29th.
