The University Department of Emergency Management and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine have joined the FAST team to provide help and better serve the community with the use of university resources, namely the medical faculty.
New commercial-scale solar panels have been installed at the College of Engineering and Computing by Florida Power & Light Company and the University. According to FIU News, “the only solar research facility of its kind that FPL has installed at a Florida university.”
“It’s actually really beneficial for me since there’s no easy way – other than driving – that I know of to get to those places from campus. It also means I have more a variety of places to go.”
Joe Paulick, the Director of Housing was very proud and excited about the new program that brought about the shuttle for students.
While construction begins, alternative parking will be available in Lot 9, located east of the FIU Arena, and in the Panther Garage, located across from the FIU Arena. Students may also pay $160 during the fall and spring semester and $83 over the summer for a space in the Housing Garage.
Changes include a new traffic control plan that will consist of additional police officers and public safety technicians who will “direct traffic at major intersections in and around MMC and BBC campuses in an effort to move traffic quickly and safely.”
Demetrius Villa said he wants to take FIU students between the University and Miami Beach at 60 miles per hour non-stop.
Changes to FIU’s Parking and Transportation services have been announced for the fall.
