FIU’s Lose It program designed to help students live a healthier life

If one of your goals for this semester is to become healthier and lose weight, then there is a program  called Lose It at the FIU Rec Center designed  for you. This 12-week program consist of mandatory three days a week group personal training session, a metabolic test and a biometric nutrition program. This program is open for students, faculity, staff and alumni.
The total cost for Lose It is $99 for new members and $90 for returning. There are prizes for the top three winners at the end of the program as well. They will receive the next semester’s Lose It program for free. Additionally, the first place winner receives a free one-on-one personal training every week with a trainer of their choice.
Lose It consists of one hour a day, three days a the week group training, which is scheduled randomly from Monday through Friday (7a.m to 7:30 p.m.). Once registered,  a schedule with these times will be emailed to you. The metabolic test is a test where you will  be laying in a chair for about  fifteen  minutes and you breath into a machine, that will provide  information on your specific caloric intake in order for you to lose weight. The biometric meal plan is a daily guide on what to eat, which is highly recommend to follow in order to get maximum results.
This program is also a great way to meet new people and gain new friendships, for this is an opportunity to learn more about being healthy and sharing the experience with a group that has the same goal.

Deadline to enter is Aug. 31. To be eligible, women need to have a  body mass index of 26% and men of at least 29%.  Christmas is right around the corner, and instead of making it a New Year’s resolution, start now and make it your fall resolution.
