PantherNOW has had a busy holiday weekend and so did our University, following the announcement that President Donald Trump was going to speak at our school on Presidents Day.
Monday, Feb. 18, was a whirlwind of excitement for us. It’s not every day student journalists get to go out and report on a presidential visit, Venezuela, plus the various campus protests.
During his visit, Trump addressed the crisis in Venezuela and reaffirmed his support for the country’s interim president Juan Guaidó. A stream of high-ranking Florida officials like Governor Ron DeSantis and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, who occasionally teaches a class here at our University.
Make sure you visit PantherNOW.com, our Twitter and our Instagram to see more of our Trump and protest coverage. Missed the entire speech? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
It only makes sense for our own Student Government Association to be part of our political front-page and this time, there’s trouble on the horizon for the Student Government Council at the Biscayne Bay campus. Their budget has been split for the third time in a row.
You’ll also want to check out the artsy cover our illustrator did on page 5 for our pull-out magazine. It’s all about the arts here at FIU and even includes a playlist of the top songs our editorial board can’t live without. So, take a look, and let us know on Twitter @_PantherNOW what your favorite go-to song is.
