Goodbye PantherNOW: Outgoing Editor-in-Chief bids adieu to Student Media

Thank you Student Media for making FIU home these past four years. It’s hard to write this goodbye. Student Media had my heart even before I was an official Panther. That won’t change now that I’m graduating.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Protect the environment, it’s all we have

South Florida is a tropical paradise, for now. If we're not careful, our homes could go under water, our coral reefs could disappear and we might lose one of the most diverse and important ecosystems in the world: The Everglades.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Our University is a melting pot

Our University isn’t the traditional school. Not only is the majority of our students commuters but we’re also a minority-majority campus.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Use your voice this SGA election season

The end of the semester is almost here and with it comes the upcoming elections for student government.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Let’s Talk Trump, Venezuela & The Arts

PantherNOW has had a busy holiday weekend and so did our University, following the announcement that President Donald Trump was going to speak at our school on Presidents Day. Monday, Feb. 18, was a whirlwind of excitement for us. It’s not every day student journalists get to go out and report on a presidential visit, Venezuela, plus the various campus protests.

President Trump offers support to Venezuela during University visit, says ‘All options are open’

President Donald Trump reaffirmed the United States support for Venezuela’s interim president Juan Guaidó and its promise to prevent the “spread of socialist tyranny” during a visit to the University on Monday, Feb. 18, amidst protests on the Graham Center lawns.

BREAKING: President Trump to discuss Venezuela at the University

President Donald Trump will be visiting the University’s Modesto Maidique campus to discuss Venezuela’s ongoing turmoil on President’s Day.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Make a difference this Valentine’s Day

This year, Valentine’s Day marks the first anniversary of the shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which left 17 people dead. Which is why Student Media has been planning this issue for months.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Don’t just remember history, learn from it

This edition of PantherNOW is all about remembrance from our first page recap of the University’s Holocaust and Genocide Awareness week to our Black History Month themed magazine.

EDITOR’S NOTE: FIU’s Greek Life isn’t like other universities

This edition of PantherNOW is possibly one of our most diverse issues yet.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Take the time to learn about domestic and international issues

I love politics. The rush you get covering what’s happening in your government, whether it’s local, nationally or even internationally is like nothing else.

DUELING COLUMN: Despite isolationist ideology, the border wall is domestic policy

Despite what some people may think, the border wall is part of President Donald Trump’s domestic policy, rather than his foreign policy. The reason is cut and dry: if the wall is built, it will be on U.S. territory.
