C-USA Cancels All Sporting Events Due To Coronavirus

Dalton Tevlin/Sports Director

All spring sports activities for Conference USA have been canceled to try and contain the Covid-19 virus.

This decision is part of a long line of sporting event postponements and cancelations across the country.

As of now, the NBA, MLS, MLB, and Nascar have postponed events for the foreseeable future.

Men’s basketball won their first game against Rice in the C-USA tournament but their tournament and season are effectively over with C-USA canceling the remainder of the tournament.

FIU football was slated to begin spring practice March 16th but will likely be put on hold until the Coronavirus fear has settled.

FIU baseball and Softball were set to go on the road this weekend but will remain home in Miami.

With the Florida Board Of Governors’ decision to make all public universities remote, cancellation of college sporting events was the next domino to fall.

PantherNOW will continue the update on all things Coronavirus and FIU Athletics.
