The suspension of all 37 Greek organizations, which began on Monday, Jan. 1, will last for a month to give the university ample time to review and address concerns regarding Greek culture, said Larry Lunsford, vice president of Student Affairs.
After months of confusion, the Modesto Maidique Student Government Council president appointed a new vice president and was confirmed by the senate.
Tau Kappa Epsilon has been suspended for allegedly violating the University’s student code of conduct, following the release of screenshots depicting “inappropriate content” in the group’s TKE private chat, said Larry Lunsford, vice president of Student Affairs.
Vice President for Student Affairs, Larry Lunsford, invites students to the Miami Dade Board of County Commissioners meeting that will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Discussions will take place on whether or not to allow county voters to decide on fairgrounds.
After the pressure of campaigning was set aside, the votes tallied, and the winners announced, the newly elected representatives of SGA-MMC met for the installation ceremony on Monday, May 12, in the Graham Center’s SGA Chamber.
“We will celebrate 35 years of unmatched loyalty and dedication,” said Lunsford, vice president of Student Affairs on Friday, May 9 at the tribute event held for retiree executive director of Graham Center, Ruth Hamilton.
The next issue addressed: the future of the former Pike house located on Modesto Maidique Campus. The University currently has two houses on campus.
Public-private partnerships are well underway at the University, regardless of critics. Contracts with Academic Partnerships and Royal Caribbean are in the process of being finalized, while a partnership with Zoo Miami was finalized on July 16.
