Get ready to go hard in the paint.

Panthermonium will kick off this year’s Homecoming week with rappers Lil Yachty, Waka Flocka Flame, Sheck Wes and Flipp Dinero

The FIU Homecoming council will host a week of Panther pride events at the Modesto Maidique, Biscayne Bay, Engineering and FIU at I-75 campuses from Oct. 4 until Oct. 12.

“We definitely set a bar last year,” said Manny Castillo, overall director for Homecoming. “We’re going to try to raise it this year.”

The Royal Reunion will follow Panthermonium on Oct. 5. Members of the Homecoming court will have the chance to meet with former Crown winners before the pageant on Sunday. Miss Florida 2017 Linette De Los Santos is expected to be a judge at The Crown.

Additionally, the Biscayne Bay campus Homecoming council will host their own slew of events for the spirit week. The Bay Council will debut Taste of the Bay, a block party that will feature various food trucks and vendors. The Caribbean Bash, a festival celebrating Caribbean culture, and the Festival of the Panther King on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Wednesday, Oct. 9.

“BBC Homecoming will bring out the best experience possible for the Panthers,” said Christie Etienne, marketing director for BBC Homecoming.

Castillo says students should look forward to The Uncaging on Oct. 10. Last year, over 3,000 people attended the community Carnival-like event hosted on the GC Lawns, and Castillo hopes to raise the attendance this year.

The Homecoming parade and football game against the University of North Carolina-Charlotte at the Riccardo Silva Stadium will close out the week on Saturday, Oct. 12.
