Summerfest foam seems to be a thing of the past.
This year, a “Summerfest Task Force” will be in charge of dousing the crowd in water, replacing the foam of Summerfests’ prior.
Campus Life ditched the famous foam two years ago to put more money towards designing the stage.
“A lot of people miss the foam and we just wanted to add a cool element to [Summerfest],” said John Parmenter, director of Campus Life. “Every year we try to build on special effects and we try to enhance the atmosphere.”
Kayzo, 4B and Riotten B2B Crankdat are scheduled to perform this year. Two student DJ’s, who will be announced later this week, will kick off the event.
HardRock Cafe, Burger King, Cafe Bustelo and T-Mobile will also vend at the event.
Summerfest will be on Thursday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m and will be in between the Blue and Gold garages at the Modesto Maidique campus. The event is free for all registered FIU students, and $20 for non-FIU guests for a limited time. All guests must be over the age of 18 or enrolled in classes.
