Following the hire of an executive recruiting firm on Mar. 21 to aid in the search for FIU’s sixth president, a university-wide email on March 29 announced the first step in forming the university’s own search committee.

Board of Trustees vice chair Roger Tovar will serve as the Presidential Search Committee’s chair, with the additional 14 members composed of faculty, alumni and students to be announced by BOT chair Dean Colson on Apr. 5 during the board’s meeting.

“Our Board of Trustees is committed to a thorough, diligent and collaborative search process and will continue to provide the university community with frequent updates and opportunities to work together,” read Colson’s email.

The email also added that on Wednesday, Apr. 13, the search committee will hold an open forum to receive input from students and faculty, as well as routinely update the presidential search website with information on meetings and candidates.
